Slovenia baby for the World Cup 2010

How Chinese websites honored Slovenia at the World Cup 2010

Slovenian flag at the back and a beautiful Chinese model in front.

I found some amazing photos of Chinese models on Sina.com, that launched a World Cup 2010 Beauty Contest, where various beautiful girls pose as models for a certain country that's taking part in this year's Football World Cup in South Africa (...that by the way, starts tmorrow). My home country Slovenia, the smallest country or nation to participate this year, is also represented by her "baby" (宝贝), who poses with a football and the Slovenian national symbols (you can see the coat of arms of Slovenia on her left upper arm). Her name is Du Yan Jia (杜颜嘉), she's a model from Wuhan, 166cm tall, her dimensions are 80/60/84. I did not get her age or more info, but that doesn't matter, just enjoy her photos.

Will Yan Jia bless us with her beauty?

Slovenia is the smallest nation to participate at the World Cup 2010.

Yan Jia again.

If Slovenia wins the World cup, Yan Jia should be flown in and kiss the real trophy!

On that website, there's an opinion poll and Chinese can vote for their "soccer baby" and currently Greece is first. And guess who's last? Slovenia. Haha.. well, I don't think is Yan Jia's fault, I guess people also vote for a country they know and like and Slovenia must be pretty unknown to Chinese. You can check the poll results here. I tried to vote, but I guess they blocked foreign IPs, so don't even try, if you're not in China.

What do you think about the whole idea? Who's your favorite model?
Is it offensive to use national symbols in such manner or is it ok, or even cool?

Women in Taipei always try to look good

About wearing high heels

This girl, which I spotted on a Taipei's MRT train, was probably headed to Taipei's fashion street named Zhongxiao East Road. I've never seen so many girls and women at one place wearing high heels as in Taipei. How about in your city? My question is:

Are high heels a torture or a blessing? As women, do you feel good and sexy or a bit awkward? How high can the heels be for you to still feel ok wearing them?

If you ask me, I'm happy, if my girlfriend wears high heels from time to time, but not the very high ones. They still need to be walkable and comfortable as much as they can be... I know it's almost contradictory, but you know what I mean.

Beautiful Taiwanese girls in Xinyi

Two impressions of beautiful girls in Taipei

Taipei is full of beautiful people. And that's very easy to realize, if you happen to walk around Xinyi or Zhong Xiao East Road, two parts, where young and fashionable people dominate. It's amazing, how fashion conscious young Taiwanese are and that's especially true for Taiwanese women. See two photos my girlfriend took near Taipei 101.

Promoters caught the attention of many passsers-by.

Megan Fox about white trash

Have you heard the most recent comments from Megan Fox? I mean, this woman really amazes me everytime she says something. Here's what she said for the UK magazine Total Film. She was asked a theoretical question relating to the movie Transformers about what she would say to Megatron to keep him from destroying the world. She replied:

“I think I would make a deal with him. I'd barter with him and say instead of the entire planet, can you just take out all of the white trash, hillbilly, anti-gay, super bible-beating people in middle-America?” [...] “I'll give Megatron middle-America and let's call it even!”

[source]

Of course there's like tons of blogs and forums talking about these remarks and complaining (+misquoting her). Why? Why do you complain? First of all, it's not a serious question! It will never happen. Secondly, she just implyed that she doesn't like these groups of people. Well, I don't like them, too. And many many more people don't like them as well. If you're offended by this, than you have issues with your own identity or beliefs. I don't mind if someone makes jokes about atheists. So what? I've also read that many people said they won't go to her movies. As if she cares. In the same magazine, she told the people who said Transformers 2 is a bad movie:

“If you don't wanna see it, then don't fucking go and pay for it. Stay home!”

You just have to love Megan Fox and the things she says. She just always nails it. Yea, she's having a foul mouth (loves that work 'fuck'), but I guess she just does that because America censors these words and she just doesn't care about PC and fake politeness. I guess she speaks the way other 'polished' actors speak privately. I appreciate her bluntness, but she's never trashy. Her jokes are very intelligent and she has good points. I guess American Christians will bash her, hate her, but she'll be the new icon for libs and won't be only popular, because she's hot, but also because she says the things many don't dare to say like that.

I just love Megan Fox.

Megan Fox: Straight talk

I came accross some recent comments (from early June 2009) made by last year's FHM's sexiest woman alive, Megan Fox, on various topics: Be it the movie industry, the media, actors and directors and marijuana. I have to say that not only she is drop-dead gorgeous (to me), but she's also smart and she speaks her mind. You can agree with her or not on these issues (for example I never smoked pot and wouldn't legalize it), but you can't say she is one of those dumb and phony Hollywood actresses who show off their diamond rings on the red carpet (like Mariah Carey). And for me, she's still the sexiest woman alive (hence the sidebar pic). Check out her comments:

"Sex And The City: The Movie was so tragic. Costume dramas bore me and Hollywood comedies are total garbage, not funny at all. Fame doesn't mean anything because anyone can be famous, and TV news is mindless bullshit."

"America's war on drugs is propaganda. I can't tell you how much bullshit I've been through because I will openly say that I smoke weed. People look at it like it's this crazy, hippy, fucked-up thing to do. And it's not! I hope they legalise it and when they do I'll be the first fucking person in line to buy my pack of joints." (source)

"There are some guys, talking about actors who have been in the business for a while, who are very egocentric and have been able to sleep with a lot of girls for whatever reason, and because they don’t know me they think I’m going to be this little cupcake, this Marilyn Monroe type who’s going to bat my eyes and be like a receptacle for them. I just shut them down immediately, right in front of people. It’s been so long since someone has told them no, they don’t really know how to deal with it. Because of this non-reality they live in, they’re fucked up, psychologically." (source)

"I think it’s wonderful I’m viewed as a sex symbol. I didn’t decide I’m going be an actress because I want to be respected for how I play chess. Part of Hollywood is being perceived as attractive." (source)

"When you think about it, we actors are kind of prostitutes. We get paid to feign attraction and love. Other people are paying to watch us kissing someone, touching someone, doing things people in a normal monogamous relationship would never do with anyone who’s not their partner. It’s really kind of gross." (source)

"Every time I get a tattoo, it’s a little fuck-you to anyone who tells me not to." (source)

About ah lians and ah bengs

Cute girl named "ah lian" by a commentator

Yesterday I chatted with my friend from Singapore and I told her some stories about my stay in Malaysia. Then she asked me if I met any Ah Lians or Ah Bengs. I had no clue what those were. She was laughing. First I thought those were prostitutes, but then I went to Wikipedia (article here) and found out that:

"Ah Lian is a pejorative term commonly given to a certain group of young Chinese girls in Southeast Asia, especially Singapore and Malaysia. These Chinese girls, whose collective age ranges from their adolescent years to late 20s, are usually centralised in the busier and more developed cities in the region. They usually hang out in Bugis Junction, Far East Plaza, outside Cineleisure and are regarded as bimbos, and are stereotyped as anti-intellectual, superficial, materialistic, and shallow."

Their male counterparts are called Ah Bengs. I've been trying to find some galleries of these Ah Lians (also called 'mei mei' in Taiwan) and I found some nice pics. You can check them here:

Well, once I checked out all these pics, I remembered I saw some of these in Singapore. In fact, plenty of them. Also in Penang there were many. But my friend told me that not all of them are bimbos. Some have the Ah Lian look, but can be fairly bright. On the other hand, there's really a strong hatered towards Ah Lians on various forums or blogs. I don't know why such strong feelings, but let's check some more on Wikipedia, that goes on describing their look and behavior:

"Ah Lians are commonly stereotyped as having hair dyed in gaudy and bright colours, and attired in fashion mimicking hip-hop culture, or outdated Japanese fashion, although how much of this is true is debatable. Most of Ah Lians are wearing fashions that are out-dated and they still have their hair straightened with thick fringe. They love to take own pictures and imitate the way Japanese girls take their pictures which is by making their eyes look big and puffing their cheeks. Few more examples of the way they take pictures are by putting a horizontal 'Peace sign' on their eye, putting a fist facing outwards on their puffed cheek. Another distinct feature of an Ah Lian is they swear in most of their conversations just like Ah Bengs. Much like their male counterparts - that is, Ah Bengs - Ah Lians are also thought of as being excessively flashy and show-offs."

Well, there's really tons of these kind of Chinese girls on Facebook and Friendster, I think it became so common, that people don't deem it as so bad anymore. Of course, if you don't overdo it. It's even said that typical Ah Lians will sleep with anyone. Well, this kind of behavior is not unknown in the West. And I guess you don't have to have an Ah Lian fashion style to be promiscuous. So it's all down to how they dress up and behave. Many Chinese girls in Singapore, Malaysia and Taiwan say they 'play cute', when they snap those photos with their cell phone. It's obvious that this swapped over from Japan. There's a similar style called gyaru (formerly ganguro), just that their hair is usually dyed blonde. Anyhow, I learned something new yesterday. Although I was there, I did not know the term. Funny :) Did you know it?
